The Livelihood Empowerment Against Poverty (LEAP) Management Secretariat (LMS) is
committed to ensuring that the programme benefits the most vulnerable households in Ghana.
As part of the LEAP programme design, beneficiary households are expected to be reassessed
every four years to confirm their continued eligibility for the programme.
Over the years, there has not been a comprehensive reassessment or exit process. To address
this, LMS undertook a pilot reassessment exercise in 2023 across 10 selected districts in
Northern Ghana. This exercise aimed to update the database, ensure that cash grants reach the
most vulnerable households, and reflect changes in poverty levels, household composition,
and programme design.
Building on the experience and lessons from the pilot, LMS is now scaling up the
reassessment exercise nationwide. This process will be carried out by the Ghana National
Household Registry (GNHR) through a third-party firm, ESOKO, and will take place from
January 13 to March 2025.
In light of this nationwide exercise, the reassessment team met to discuss upcoming reassessment process for the success of the LEAP reassessment exercise.
