The 2022 National Cross Country event took place at Akim Oda in the Eastern Region.All 16 Regions nationwide participated and Team Central Region took the first position.
The team on tuesday afternoon paid a visit to the Upper Denkyira East Municipal Assembly to present the trophy (First position:male category) to the MCE Hon Ebenezer Forson Appiah.
Mr. Tieku Alexander (Central Regional Sports Director) told the MCE that, the Cental Regional Team took the first position in the competition: Mr William Amponsah took the first position for the male category and was presented a trophy, Mr Aziz Mohammed also took the 3rd position and Mr Basil Afful 5th position.
Mr Evans Assan, Athletics Coach and Mr Joel Nii Oblie Ankrah, Head of Technical Team : National Sports Authority said the team was deligent, obedient, took instructions and spiritual life very serious and hence the first position.
The award winners reiterated that they were obedient to instructions from thier coach and tectnical team.
The MCE congratulated the Team for their hard work and victroy and advised them to continue training for more victories ahead not only for central region but nationwide and international. He said the Dunkwa Stadium upon completion will host the team for indept training.
The Municipal Coordination Director, Mr Braimah Asumah Adam also advised the team to take sports very serious for it is not just entertainment but also a full time career for the youth.
