MCE MEETS NETHERLANDS AMBASSADOR, TEAM FROM SOLIDARIDAD WEST AFRICA AND REGIONAL COCOABOD
The Netherlands ambassador to Ghana, H.E Mr Jeroen Verheul and his team, the leadership of Solidaridad West Africa and team from Regional Cocoabod came to the municipality to inspect and meet with Maa Cocoa Farmers in the municipality.
The team first met with the MCE and the MCD and some heads of department at the office of the MCE to delibrate on their visit.
The Netherlands is a major consumer of Ghana's Cocoa and they have invested in the Cocoa sector of our country. The Embassy partnered with Solidaridad to build a Regional Service Center here in Dunkwa; and yesterday's visit was to inspect the facility and know how it is helping farmers especially women in Cocoa.
The team after inspecting the center had a meeting with Mmaa Cocoa Farmers (women group in cocoa farming business in UDE). The women were asked on how the team can help them improve productivity and how the women can also help visi versa. Most of women shared brilliant ideas with the team.
The team also visited some Cocoa farms to see how the weather has impacted the farms they also visited a farm where through the help of Cocoboard, an irrigation system has been piloted.
The visit was particularly about improving Cocoa yields all year round. The discussion centered on how we can use irrigation to improve Cocoa yields.
The MCE thanked the Netherlands ambassador and the team for their support in production of Cocoa within the municipality.
