(GREEN GHANA PROJECT) MP, MCE, MCD AND STAKEHOLDERS TARGET TO PLANT 200,000 TREES IN UDE.

 

Today Friday 10th June 2022. The MP for Upper Denkyira East, Dr Festus Coffie, the MCE, Hon Ebenezer Forson Appiah, The MCD, Asumah Adam Braimah, Representatives from Forestry Commission Dunkwa, NADMO, Security Services, Green Ghana Committee in UDE, Heads of Department,Agric Department, Assembly members, Assembly workers, Keep fit clubs and other Stakeholders embarked on greening Upper Denkyira East by planting seedlings under the "Green Ghana Project to tackle Climate Change". Instead of 100,000 trees 200,000 trees have been targeted.

 

This initiative sponsored by government aims to plant over 20 million Trees nationwide fro 10th June 2022. The tree planting exercise is embarked in every district and region today in the country.

It is aimed to tackle Climate Change: reduce the amount of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere, beautification, shading etc.

In an address today at the assembly hall of the assembly, the member of Parliament said Upper Denkyira East will be planting 200, 000 instead of 100,000 trees to ensure restoration of the depleted forest. He also said the activities of "Galamsey" is the major cause of deforestation in the municipality, he urged that all must help to curb the menace and ensure Trees are planted in every area to ensure beauty and restoration of nature.

The MCE in his address also encouraged all to get involved in greening Upper Denkyira East Land. He encouraged the people to go to the Forestry Commission and ensure to plant at least a tree within their environment. He adviced that the tree after planting must be cared for and watered to ensure the growth of the tree so the purpose will be achieved. He tasked the Forestry Commission to keep data on areas trees have been planted and follow up to care for the growth of the trees.
