On 2nd December 2022, Upper Denkyira East celebrated a gallant farmers day in the Municipality at Denkyira Amoafo. It was a very colorful event. The MCE, Honourable Ebenezer Appiah Forson, commended the farmers for their immeasurable efforts in the provision of sustainable supply of food for the nation.
He further enumerated that the government had supported the agric sector with inputs such as seedlings (maize, coconut, oil palm and rice). Again, Pruning of cocoa trees, mass spraying of over 40,000 acres of cocoa farms in the municipality. He added that the Municipal Assembly would be embarking on a district farm project and encouraged other institutions to do same. Finally he advice farmers to be mindful of their health and take the necessary precautions to avoid the contraction of AIDS. He encouraged that all should get tested to know their status.
The MCE also thanked all stakeholders for working hard to put the municipality first in the Central Regional District assessment and also coming 20th in the National Ranking. He then encouraged all stakeholders to continue on this path to maintained this position in the subsequent years to come.
In all 13 farmers were awarded with various agric inputs. Also two Extension officers were awarded from Agric department and the district cocoa office respectively. Mr Joseph Owusu of Denkyira Asikuma was a ajudged the best farmer for the municipality. He was awarded a complete set corn mill and some other agric inputs.
