1. Identify Child maintenance, Custody and Family welfare cases and handle them
2. Conduct follow –up on cases and ensure compliance on decision arrived at.
3. Provide Psychosocial counselling
4. Support for Persons Living with Disabilities (PWDs)
5. Community sensitization and education on Child Rights Protection and Promotion
6. Identification and Registration of Persons with Disabilities (PWDs)
7. Facilitating the payment of LEAP grants in communities
8. Facilitating the Registration of LEAP beneficiaries, PWDs and Indigents onto NHIS platform
9. Work with community focal Persons (CFP)
10. Collaborate with the Municipality Assembly, Traditional Authorities, Opinion leaders and other Agencies within the municipality.
11. Registration and supervision of Day Care Centres in the Municipality
12. Identify, Register and supervise the activities of NGOs
13. Conduct Social Investigation on Child custody
14. Conduct Social Investigation on juvenile cases
15. Make representation at the juvenile court
16. Family Arbitration and Reconciliation
17. Referrals of clients to other agencies
18. Self-help construction/community initiated programmes
19. Vocational and Skills Training Programme: (women empowerment)
20. Extension Services/Mass Education
21. Adult Education Programme

The newly established Department of Social Welfare and Community Developments is expected to assist Assemblies to develop policies within the frame work of national policy to · among other things:
1. Assist to organize community development programmes to improve and enrich rural life through literacy and _ adult education classes and teach deprived or rural women home management and child care
2.Enhance socio-economic and emotional stability in families
Functions and Responsibilities of Gender Desk Officers
Gender Desk Officers (GDOs) are those who have been designated within specific Govemtflent Ministries and Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Assemblies to monitor and stimulate greater consideration of gender equality issues in the daily
operations of the institutions.
The functions of the GDOs may be summarised as follows:
1. Facilitate the preparation of gender sensitive plans
2. Assist in identifying, recruiting and training staff of Institutions to be gender
aware
3. Ensure the implementation of such plans
4. Report on all activities implemented
5. Organize orientation/workshops for staff on gender
6. Ensure that Government gender priorities are met
7. Facilitate quarterly meetings to review gender activities and issues requiring
attention to strengthen their roles

REPORT ON INTER -SECTORIAL SERVICE DELIVERY PROJECT
1.0 INTRODUCTION:
This report covers Inter Social Service (ISS) delivery activities under child under taken by the Department of Social Development in collaboration with other key stakeholders such as the Municipal Assembly, CHRAJ, Ghana Health Service, Ghana Education Service, DOVVSU, community focal persons , opinion leaders and the Regional Office. The programme is being funded by UNICEF in collaboration with the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development.
The report also highlights some of the activities that have been undertaken from January to date, challenges, constraint and lesson learnt under the year under review. Below are some of the key activities organized by the Department in collaboration with key stakeholders in the following project communities;
