67TH INDEPENDENCE DAY CELEBRATION-UPPER DENKYIRA EAST MUNICIPAL ASSEMBLY

A total of Forty (40) schools both public and private comprising Twelve (12) Primary Schools, Eighteen (18) Basic Schools, Five (5) Junior High Schools and Five (5) Senior High Schools were on parade at the Dunkwa Youth Resource Centre-Mfuom to mark the country’s 67th Independence Anniversary Celebration on the theme” Our Democracy, Our Pride” on Wednesday, 6th March, 2024.

Present at the ceremony were Hon. Assembly Members; Heads of Departments, Agencies, Institutions, Traditional and Religious Leaders, Security Personnel as well as School Pupils, Students and the general public.

The Municipal Education Director- Mr. Anthony Tekyie was happy and privileged to be called upon to give a welcome address at this important and special day of the country. he disclosed that another important day in the life of the country was here again. He indicated that all over the country, people have gathered to commemorate the day. He added that as Ghanaians, we take great pride in our independence and our liberation from colonial rules since 1957. He noted that we have to celebrate and enjoy ourselves as a people who have the sovereignty and freedom to manage their own affairs.

The Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Ebenezer Forson Appiah disclosed that it was an honor and a privilege for him to stand before the citizens as the representative of the president of the republic His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo as we marked the country’s 67th Independence Day Anniversary. He took the opportunity to welcome everyone as we observed this national important exercise. He indicated that it has been a journey as Mother Ghana attained 67th years.

He added that we have come this far as a country through God’s grace. He noted that the day is a great day of significance to remember our great fore fathers who fought to their blood to secure us our independence on 6th March 1957. He emphasized that our fore fathers have done theirs and it is up to us to also do our best to move the development of Ghana forward.

Schools that distinguished themselves in the Quiz Competition and the March Past were given awards.

The dignitaries who took the salute were Hon. Ebenezer Forson Appiah-Municipal Chief Executive, Mr. Anthony Takyie-Municipal Education Director, Supt. Bernard Norgah-Municipal Police Commander, ASP Juliana Miccado, ASP Margaret Avormya, Mr. Eric Aidoo-Dept. Supt. Immigration and ADO1 Crossby Arkoh.
